HMS Queen Elizabeth at Plymouth's Armed Forces Day


HMS Queen Elizabeth has been in Plymouth Sound during Armed Forces Week, and will still be moored by the breakwater on Armed Forces Day, creating a beautiful backdrop to the event.

HMS Queen Elizabeth is the largest ship ever built for the Royal Navy, at 900ft long, the carrier is the same size as 3 football pitches.


10,000 people worked on the construction of the ship. Different parts were made at yards around the UK, to then be transported to Rosyth, Fife, where she was assembled.


The vessel weighs a grand total of 65,000 tonnes - That's equivalent to approximately 46,429 cars!
